Sneak A break From Busy Life
—A Trip to Taichung

Two weeks ago, my friends and I attended a daily trip held by CCU Elite Academic (紫荊書院) to visit Taichung. On this trip, we went to three famous places in Taichung: National Museum of Natural Science (國立自然科學博物館), Cycling Culture Museum (捷安特自行車文化探索館), and National Taichung Theater. (台中國家歌劇院)

National Museum of Natural Science  (國立自然科學博物館)

Although I have been here more than 3 times, I still felt surprised about the new knowledge that I haven’t heard before. For example, I learned new knowledge about “dinosaurs” from the introduction of the tour guide. She clearly introduced the classification of dinosaurs and the traits of each dinosaur.

Cycling Culture Museum (捷安特自行車文化探索館)

Next place we went to Cycling Culture Museum. It is the place that inspired me the most among the three places we have visited. However, we were forbidden to take a picture in the museum, so it is a little pity that I cannot take any pictures to record the interesting and high-tech interactive devices there. I really like to visit museums, so if I have the opportunity then I will go to visit different museums in Taiwan. So far, I think Cycling Culture Museum is one of my favorite museums among all. In the beginning, the tour guide showed us the evolution and development of bicycles around the globe, and it is amazing that human beings are so intelligent. The bicycles in the early eras were extremely hard to ride and use because of the “giant tires.” Fortunately, thanks to the development of new technology, now our bicycles have already become more and more convenient and easy to ride. Besides, the tour guide also tells us the reason how Giant Company succeed in the European market and the special technology they had invited to make their bicycle stand out. Overall, I really like the atmosphere and Giant Company’s business philosophy: make bicycles become a “culture”, but not only a transportation tool.

National Taichung Theater. (台中國家歌劇院)

Last stop, we went to National Taichung Theater. The most impressive part is that I learned many awesome architectural skills, and the tour guide show us the special ingenuity created by the architect. However, because of the time pressure, we didn’t have time to stay here. If next time I have time and enough money, I think I will go to see the theatres or musical plays in the magnificent Theater.

Finally, I think Taichung is really a good place for living and playing, even the time passed so fast, these wonderful and concrete memories were still hovering in my mind. Hopefully that next time while I visit Taichung, I will have more time to deeply go through this charming city with my friends and family.

The butterfly at the bottom represents the designer of the National Taichung Theater —Mr. Toyo Ito. (伊東豐雄)

Other people who work for the construction of the National Taichung Theater represent other butterflies.

This design shows Mr. Toyo Ito is a very modest and unassuming person because he believes that he is not the only person who contributes to this Theater. He only wants to be the least conspicuous “butterfly” at the bottom, but he will always silently support other butterflies behind each person. (A very warm story)
